Snoezelen Rooms: Benefits & How to Use One
Sensory or “Snoezelen” Rooms are spaces within which people can experience calming, enjoyment, targeted stimulation & therapy and communication opportunities.
The dark space, sometimes combined with glowing objects, is also a way to reach children with CVI or profound learning difficulties, as it removes visual distractions and heightens focus.
Presented by a Sensory Integration trained Occupational Therapist, you'll learn about the multiple benefits and applications of sensory rooms, as we show you examples of this beautiful technology.
For any centre or school considering installing a Snoezelen Room, this course provides valuable information about what to consider.

Relevant for: Educators, Therapists, Parents
Details: 1 day course, light lunch included.

There is a lot happening in this video! The girl is using her eyes to control a computer by looking at the screen, because she does not have good control of her hands. However, controlling the computer could be done in any way - using a touch screen, or scanning with switches, or a joystick etc.
Here comes the toy control bit: On the screen are the four choices of toy she can activate: a rabbit, a pig, bubble-blowing fish, and a sheep. These on-screen buttons are customised in the software provided with the ToyBox, or with other compatible software such as Grid 3.
The ToyBox is connected to the computer, and the toys are connected to the ToyBox. When she chooses a button on the screen, it activates the corresponding toy!
