Snoezelen Rooms: Benefits & How to Use One

Sensory or “Snoezelen” Rooms are spaces within which people can experience calming, enjoyment, targeted stimulation & therapy and communication opportunities.

The dark space, sometimes combined with glowing objects, is also a way to reach children with CVI or profound learning difficulties, as it removes visual distractions and heightens focus.

Presented by a Sensory Integration trained Occupational Therapist, you'll learn about the multiple benefits and applications of sensory rooms, as we show you examples of this beautiful technology.

For any centre or school considering installing a Snoezelen Room, this course provides valuable information about what to consider.

Product Details

A lightweight AAC device that supports people with limited / no speech.

Four programmable buttons allow the user to personalise each level with pictures and vocal recordings
Records up to 22 messages; 4 messages per level across 5 levels, and two core word buttons that remain constant across all levels.
Includes three additional core buttons for frequently used words or phrases across all levels

GoTalks are battery powered augmentative / alternative communication (AAC) devices used by people who can not communicate well by speaking.
The Lite Touch range is an updated model which requires a softer touch to activate the buttons, useful for people with limited finger strength.
Another person (a classmate, sibling or friend, for example) records messages - any messages the user will likely need, in any language, dialect or accent.
An overlay of pictures (or words or symbols) is created. The pictures help the user remember where to find messages. The overlay is slid into the GoTalk, and then the user can 'talk' simply by pressing on a picture to play a message.
The paper overlays can be made in GoTalk Design Software, Boardmaker 7 or MatrixMaker software.
Helps students communicate personalised messages during lessons, or helps non-speaking patients in expressing needs or engaging in therapy sessions.

GoTalk 4+ Light Touch has a 20 message capacity (4 keys, each 7.5cm square, and 5 recording levels).
It also has 2 'core messages' which stay the same on each level so you don't need to re-record essential messages for each level. Great for essentials, like 'I need help' or 'All done'.
5 levels of recording, with a total of 4.6 minutes recording time.
